I had full access to all areas of the stage, including behind the drum kit where I got a great shot of drummer Mikkey Dee, who since then had a long stint with Motorhead and later became the drummer for the Scorpions. Abigail was a concept album based on a story by King Diamond himself. Sadly, original Mercyful Fate bassist Timi Hansen seen here has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

That was the farthest thing from the case in Anaheim. The stage was masterfully decorated to look like a mental institution. Complete with a wire bed frame to the top left of the stage, an iron door with a small window, and all the accouterments of evil with a three level stage design. As he slowly rises from the gurney, the rest of the band emerged from the back and went right into the song. That also, was not the case. He did have Livia Zita, singing backup vocals with him.
This helped to smooth over some of the notes, but he was his own great self singing. He and the rest of the band knocked this section of the concert out of the park. Finishing up this part of the story for Abigail and Jonathan until later in the night. It was supplemented with a dancer under the voodoo spell of King Diamond. For me, this was the highlight of the night.
King Diamond even had them give another scream for Halloween. The rule of playing new material live at a metal show is that you have to follow it up with a song that brings the audience back in, even if the new material happens to kick a lot of ass.
This is a must-have for every heavy metal fan, not just King Diamond ones, as it is an epitome of all we love: organic, passionate performances, visually appealing, haunting moments and — best of all — a perfect homage to the heydays when band and audience would unite as one for a seminal experience. All hail the King.
Но, черт возьми, как же мешает кладбищенская решетка на переднем плане сцены!!! Да, это обязательный элемент шоу, но вот фотографировать сквозь нее - адские мучения! Хорошо хоть Хэл Патино и Майк Вид иногда выходят за ее пределы... А теперь пора познакомить "бабушку" с рассейскими фэнами - "Welcome Home", и дядька вывозит на сцену инвалидную коляску с восседающей на ней "old bitch". Бросая взгляд назад, вижу восхищенные взгляды людей, прикованные к сцене. Световые эффекты потрясающие, создается впечатление театрального представления в стиле "метал" наглядный урок, КАК должны выглядеть всевозможные "метал-оперы" вживую!!! Вспомнили альбом "Them"? А теперь, как логическое продолжение, вспомним и "Conspiracy". У могил грустит Кинг о своей младшей сестренке Мисси... А сложнейшая, почти девятиминутная композиция, перенасыщенная мелодичными "соляками", сопровождается бешеным "хаеротрясением" в партере. Кладбищенская тематика продолжается следующим треком - "Up from the grave ". Далеко не самый любимый мною трек, с не очень любимого альбома "Graveyard" хотя история там, конечно, хороша! А как эффектно смотрелся момент, когда на полузаполненной дымом сцене Кинг имитировал раскопки могил - это надо было видеть!!! Равно как и хоровое пение припева под руководством самого Короля... Не забыли ли мы про актеров второго плана? Ах, забыли. Так вот вам, получайте "Voodoo" с одноименного альбома. Одурманенная африканским колдовством девушка танцует на сцене, а Кинг играет роль верховного божества вудуистской мифологии - Барона Самеди. Раньше эта композиция предвещала самый эффектный момент концерта - сожжение самого Короля. К сожаленью, в этот раз не удалось насладиться запахом горелого мяса, зато пока звучал "заговор священника и отчима Кинга", со сцены убрали так досаждавшую нам кладбищенскую ограду... И вновь песня из далеких 90-х годов, "Dreams".
Делила с ним край самая малозаметная участница шоу, которой можно сказать отдельное спасибо за то, что праздник по имени Кинг продолжается. Она — тот самый человек, который был всё время реабилитации певца рядом рядом с ним. Под её чутким руководством Король наш Бриллиантовый вновь обрёл возможность не только стоять на ногах, но и петь настолько замечательно, насколько это возможно в его 57 лет. Про некоторых музыкантов говорят, что они играют с огоньком. Так вот, и здесь вся команда как могла «жгла» и поддерживала пламя, разгоревшееся с первых тактов. Визуальная часть представления была подкреплена светом и звуком — и тот, и другой безупречны. Такого качественного саунда слышать в «Stadium Live» еще не приводилось. Даже Judas Priest не смогли достичь той безукоризненности звука, которая царила во время представления Кинга Даймонда сотоварищи. Странно было услышать кинговское «Thank you! Никто не верил в то, что всё закончилось. И правильно! Не прошло и пяти минут, как вся команда появилась вновь, и, после представления ее участников, исполнили «The Family Ghost» и ставшую апофеозом всего вечера песню Mercyful Fate «Evil». Прозвучала она так, что где-то внутри возникло состояние леденящего ужаса. После неё можно было второй раз и не выходить.

The way these 2 guitarists play together is beyond incredible. Photo: Bryce Van Patten Pontus Egberg layed down a heavy thunder on the bass guitar, making for a solid rhythm section with Matt Thompson on the drums. As I have said, the band played the songs perfectly to the original recordings, which I find to be a great and rare thing.

King Diamond in 1999 In 2000, Diamond decided to put Mercyful Fate on hold and continue on with his solo career. On 1 August 2019 Mercyful Fate announced a reunion and an accompanying European tour. In late 2005, Diamond appeared on the Roadrunner United — The All-Star Sessions album, contributing vocals for his song "In the Fire", which featured multiple Roadrunner Records musicians past and present working together to create individual songs. Diamond also guested on the Cradle of Filth song "Devil Woman" in late 2005. Please , on 26 June 2007. The player must complete the song on any instrument and any difficulty to unlock the character. On 29 November 2010, Diamond was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered several blockages in his arteries due to his heavy smoking habit.

Только, вот на Юг целыми составами компании не ездят. А на Север, как выяснилось, бывает, и, дай бог здоровья виновникам сего праздника, не в последний раз. В это время, со стороны Соединенных Штатов Америки, в город на Неве направлялся уже не молодой, но отлично выглядящий человек. На нем была косуха, спортивные штаны с красными лампасами, черные очки и бейсболка козырьком назад. Звали этого человека Ким Бендикс Петерсон. Именно в таком виде и. Кстати говоря, будучи любителем испить пенного напитка правда только не будучи в турне - голос, понимаете ли г-н Даймонд, наблюдая город из окна своего автобуса, на котором группу привезли в клуб с русским народным названием Ливерпуль, с восхищением отметил, что у нас, в отличие от загнивающей Америки, накатить пивка на улице - что носом шмыгнуть. Но, хватит про алкоголь, хотя посланцы из Москвы в тот день сделали Питеру, наверное, двойной план. Для искушенных в жизни и творчестве Кинга Даймонда интересна была лишь заключительная часть общения с музыкантами - раздача автографов и фотографирование с классиком тяжелого рока, ибо ничего нового от самого классика услышано за это время не было. Стандартные вопросы - стандартные ответы, хотя и крайне развернутые. Весьма интересной и познавательной оказалась малоизвестная история, натолкнувшая Даймонда на мысль о создании такого альбома, как House Of God: Где-то на юге Франции на самом деле есть церковь, на двери которой написано Это место ужасно!
Frontman Kevin Starrs makes a good show as a weeping willow of hair whose face never appears, and does little more than bob and bounce. The set provides solid meat and potatoes, with a little hint of something extra for those blazed enough to truly immerse themselves in it. His Majesty wastes no time, launching into The Candle, followed by a spirited set of chugging, serpentine classics that have the audience headbanging and holding up invisible orbs in gleeful excitement. Like the demonic ghost of your dreams, King clambers around his three-tiered sanitarium-themed stage set an obvious nod to his upcoming album, the Institute playing both timeless tracks like Sleepless Nights and Halloween as well as rarer morsels like Voodoo, and even a brand-new track, Masquerade of Madness.
